About 1,500 people have been arrested over riots which happened on Sunday in Brasilia, the capital.
They came a week following President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva swearing-in after the election in October which split the country.
Newly sworn-in President of Brazil, widely called Lula, 77, on Monday evening, visited the damaged buildings of Congress, the Supreme Court and the Presidential Palace, condemning the “terrorist acts” and assuring to punish the perpetrators.
67-year old former President of the country, Jair Bolsonaro, is yet to accept defeat in the election which was tightly-contested.
Bolsonaro travelled to the United States (US) before the handover on 1 January. On Monday, he was admitted to hospital in the city of Florida with abdominal discomfort.
