US Winter Storms: Resident trapped in cars in New York State

In the Western region of New York State, at least 28 people have lost their lives, most of them in Buffalo, as a huge winter storm continues to ravage the continent of North America.

According to an official of the State, some had been trapped in cars for more than two days during what was “probably” the most severe storm of their lifetime.

Meteorologists have issued a warning, the state should expect in different parts, up to nine more inches (23cm) of snow on Tuesday.

In total, 56 lives have been lost due to the winter storms which stretched from Canada to the border of Mexico.

An emergency declaration has been approved by the United States (US) President, Joe Biden, which allows Federal support for the State of New York.

Biden tweeted: “My heart is with those who lost loved ones this holiday weekend.”
