Emery’s Aston Villa dazzled Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United to clinch a 3-1 victory in the Premier League match on Sunday 6 November at the Villa Park.

Aston Villa parted ways with manager Steven Gerrard following below-expectation outcomes at the end of last month, October.

According to BBC:

Unai Emery guided his new side to their first win at home to the Red Devils in any competition for 23 years.

It was their first Premier League win against Manchester United at Villa Park since 1995.

This loss to Aston Villa forced former Scottish footballer, Alan Hansen, to label Manchester United players as “kids”.

Hansen said, “You can’t win anything with kids.”

Leon Bailey opened scoring for Aston Villa early in the 7th minute, four minutes later, Lucas Digne made it two for the hosts.

In the 45th minute, Aston Villa gifted United a goal when Jacob Ramsey hit the back of his own net, and just four minutes into the second half, same Ramsey made it 3-1 for the Claret and Blue.

“Good times could be coming back for Aston Villa. You always get the bounce, but this feels different,” Clinton Morrison, a former Premier League striker said.

Morrison further said, “Huge credit to Emery and the players, they adapted so well. Emery tactically got it spot on. Aston Villa’s shape was brilliant.”

In his post-match comments, former manager of Dutch side, Ajax Amsterdam, Erik Ten Hag, said, “They are humans, not robots, and sometimes it is the way it is, but it is not acceptable. We have to be ready for every game and not give a game away.”

Manchester United manager, Ten Hag, concluded: “It was collectively a bad performance.”
