2023 Elections: ‘I thank Mr. President that he wants to conduct a free and fair election, my problem is INEC’ – Wike

On Wednesday, Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State, South South, Nigeria, has said that as long as President Muhammadu Buhari keeps his promise of “conducting a free and fair election”, there will be no way for victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming 2023 Elections.

Wike said: “I thank Mr. President that he wants to leave a legacy of conducting a free and fair election.

“Thank God Mr. President for saying that you will not interfere or intimidate anybody. That means your party has no way to win.”

Governor Wike expressed worries over the promise made in public by the country’s Electoral body, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure everything goes accordingly during and after the 2023 Elections.

“My problem is INEC, whether they will do what they said they will do. They are making promises now. I don’t know whether they will keep to it. If INEC will keep to the promises that Nigeria will get a better election, I will be so happy. Everybody will see with their eyes; Abuja does not vote. It is the people here that will vote,” he said.
