China: Driver who k*lled dozens in car attack sentenced to death

A man who killed dozens by driving his car into people who were exercising outside a stadium in the Southern region of China has been handed a death sentence.

At least, thirty-five (35) people were killed and dozens more sustained injuries in the attack which happened on 11 November in Zhuhai.

A court statement says, Fan Weiqiu was accused of “endangering public safety”.

The attack is thought to be the deadliest in China for a decade.

The 62-year old decided to drive his car into the crowd on a track on a high speed because he was “dissatisfied” with how his property had been split after his divorce, the court revealed.

His motive was “extremely vile”, the court described, adding, “the methods” as “particularly cruel”.


HC: This is sheer wickedness. Can you imagine, 35 lives cos of a property!
