The Grammy Awards 2023 held at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, United States (US) on Sunday 5 February, 2023.
Nigerian singer and songwriter, Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, won the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category for her role in ‘Wait for U’, the 2022 hit song by Future, featuring Drake.
Tems has now bagged the record as the first Nigerian female artist to win the Grammy Award.
‘Brown Skin Girl’ singer, Beyonce, emerged the biggest winner in the history of the Grammy Awards after clinching her 32nd award at the ceremony.
Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally called Burna Boy lost out at the ceremony, clinching no prize despite bagging two nominations – ‘Best Global Music performance‘ with his hit track ‘Last Last’ and ‘Global Music Album’ with his newest album ‘Love Damini’.
