After a boat loaded with refugees sank off the Italian coastal city of Crotone in the southern region of Calabria, at least, 59 people, encompassing 12 children have died.

From Turkey, the vessel had set sail with refugees from Afghanistan, Iran as well as several other countries, and crashed on Sunday in stormy weather close to Steccato di Cutro, a seaside resort on the eastern coast of Calabria.
By the afternoon of Sunday, the death toll was 59, however, it is expected to rise, as revealed by junior interior minister Wanda Ferro to newsmen.
81 survived, 20 hospitalized, including one person in intensive care, Manuela Curra, a provincial government official, told the Reuters news agency.
