Malaysia Floods: Thousands forced from their homes

Flooding caused by rainfall which lasted for days has caused thousands to flee their homes in Malaysia and claimed at least, four lives.

Almost 50,000 people have been affected by the floods as at Monday morning, Bernama, state news agency disclosed.

Johor, the Southern state neighbouring Singapore, is the worst hit area.

Photos splashed on social media displayed belongings and furniture heaped on the side of the road as people began cleaning up homes, clinics and offices affected by the floods.

An elderly couple who drowned were among the dead, Police revealed.

38-year old Safiee Hassan, told AFP News Agency, he and his family struggled to save their refrigerator, sofa and some electrical items.

He said: “other things like our bed, mattress, cupboard, are damaged.”
