Train-Bus Accident in Lagos: Seventy-seven passengers discharged from hospitals – Governor Sanwo-Olu

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is “pleased to announce that 77 passengers have been discharged from hospitals across  Lagos State after receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the Train/Bus accident”.

A mishap occurred between a moving train and a high capacity bus (BRT Bus) in the morning of Thursday 9 March, 2023, at PWD, around Shogunle, Lagos State.

The unfortunate incident claimed several lives and left so many others with various degrees of injury.

Governor Sanwo-Olu disclosed the high capacity bus was a staff bus belonging to the Lagos State government.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) revealed the accident happened due to “reckless driving on the part of the bus driver”.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said: “I am pleased to announce that 77 passengers have been discharged from various hospitals across Lagos State after receiving treatment for injuries sustained during the Train/Bus accident. 


“We will continue to support them in their recovery process. 


“We have 19 patients still receiving treatment and our medical personnel are working round the clock to ensure their full recovery. Let us continue to pray for them.”
