Nigerians have been left stranded at the Aswan border after the Egyptian authorities refused to allow them pass through for the NAF C 130 to airlift them back to Nigeria.

The heavy unrest in Sudan as a result of the severe fighting between the Army of Sudan and the paramilitary force has forced so many foreign nationals to flee the North African country.

Ceasefire has failed severally as fighting continues, especially in the capital, Khartoum.

The processing of the first set of evacuees will kick off as a Nigerian Air Force plane has already been on the ground in Aswan, Egypt.

According to an update by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM): “With the intervention of President Buhari, Egypt has finally opened its border to Nigerians fleeing Sudan. With an Airforce plane already on the ground in Aswan, Egypt, the processing of the first set of evacuees will begin.”
