Germany whitewashed Morocco six goals to nothing with Alexandra Popp finding the back of the net twice in the 11th and 39th minutes, in Melbourne.

Morocco emerged the first North African country to feature in the tournament in history.

Klara Bull made it three for the Germans in the 46th minute, and the African side went ahead to hit the back of their own net twice through Hanane Ait el Haj and Zineb Reedouani, making it four and five in the 54th and 79th minutes respectively.

The European side sealed victory in the 90th minute through Lea Schuller.
