The UK PM expressed his shock at the huge explosion which happened at the Al Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza on Tuesday 17 October, 2023, saying, “We are all shocked by the scenes at the al-Ahli Arab Hospital”.
On Israelis taken hostage by Hamas, Sunak assured, “we’re determined to secure the release of the hostages taken by Hamas terrorists”.
In the early hours of Saturday 7 October, 2023, Palestinian militants known as Hamas, launched a surprise attack on Israel, killing several Israelis and taking many others hostage.
The UK Leader also reached an agreement with President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog, on sending “urgent humanitarian support to Palestinians in Gaza who are also suffering”.
PM Sunak said: “I am in Israel, a nation in grief.
“I grieve with you and stand with you against the evil that is terrorism.
“Today, and always.
“We are all shocked by the scenes at the al-Ahli Arab Hospital.
“Our intelligence services are rapidly analysing the evidence to independently establish the facts.
“To have a child taken from you is a parent’s worst nightmare.
“This morning I heard from families going through this unbearable agony.
“Working with our partners, we’re determined to secure the release of the hostages taken by Hamas terrorists.
“I’ve just met President @Isaac_Herzog and conveyed my gratitude for the support provided to British nationals caught up in the terror attacks.
“Together we agreed on the importance of getting urgent humanitarian support to ordinary Palestinians in Gaza who are also suffering.”
