“But seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness” |
Exodus 20:3-4 says, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:”
God expects us to be loyal to Him 100% and that is why He commands that we “have no other gods before me”.
Unwavering loyalty to God means seeking first God’s Kingdom and His righteousness, that is only when we are rewarded i.e. when “all these things” are added unto us.
According to Matthew 6, “all these things” are what we shall eat, what we shall drink, what we shall wear, and other things that man needs for a good and beautiful life.
“All these things” and more are rewards we get for being steadfastly loyal to God Almighty; like every good seed or investment, loyalty will certainly yield good rewards.
However, “persecution” and tribulation may spring up as a result of loyalty to God. 2 Timothy 3:12 says, “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution”, still, that shouldn’t bother you because the King of Kings is mighty to save and deliver.
Rewards For Loyalty
- Eternal Life: Revelation 2:10-11 – “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.”
- Power Over Nations: Revelation 2:26 – “And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:” Good example is Joseph’s experience in the Book of Genesis.
- Name Written In The Book Of Life: Revelation 3:5 – “He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.” Jesus went ahead to promise to mention the name of the loyal servant to His “Father”, God Almighty.
