Xabi Alonso’s side’s season win party was delayed by a day after Bayern Munich defeated FC Cologne 2-0 on Saturday 13 April, 2024 at Allianz Arena.
Nigerian sharpshooter, Victor Boniface, opened scoring for the hosts in the 25th minute, Xhaka made it two in the 60th minute, and Florian Wirtz sealed victory for Leverkusen with a hat-trick in the 68th, 83rd and 90th minutes.
Xhaka who moved to the German side from Arsenal in July, said, “Obviously, at the start of the season we couldn’t have imagined this.”
Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen are still unbeaten in all competitions this season and have focus on clinching a treble with the German Cup and Uefa Europa League in sight.
Bayer Leverkusen wrote: “We did it.”
