Borussia Dortmund defender, Mats Hummels, has confessed, forward, Kylian Mbappe’s “inimitable pace” has made it difficult to stop him, adding, “you can only defend him as a team”.

The German made the statement ahead of the Uefa Champions League 2023/24 semi final second leg between Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG) and Dortmund at Parc des Princes, Paris, France on Tuesday 7 May, 2024.
In the first leg of the tie, the Black and Yellows emerged victorious with a lone goal win by Niclas Fullkrug at Signal Iduna Park, Germany.
Hummels said: “You can only defend him as a team. With the inimitable pace he has, he can’t be defended on his own. But he’s only one part of the whole, you have to watch out for many others too.”
In his pre-PSG comments, Terzic said, “we hadn’t really found ourselves yet”, adding, “we lacked courage in many areas”.
Dortmund manager, Edin Terzic, said: “We hadn’t really found ourselves yet. We lacked courage in many areas. In the two games in Dortmund, we then showed that we can play very differently against PSG.”
