The Governor explained, “this initiative encompasses a comprehensive overhaul of infrastructure and remodelling efforts across Aba and Umuahia”, adding, “our vision is to foster a transformative impact on the inter and intra-city transport landscape, alleviating congestion and enhancing the urban aesthetic”.
According to Governor Otti: “We are excited to announce the commencement of the second phase of the Abia Urban Renewal and Public Transportation Project in Umuahia, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to urban development and enhanced public transportation. The first phase of the project took off in Aba yesterday.
“This initiative encompasses a comprehensive overhaul of infrastructure and remodelling efforts across Aba and Umuahia. At the heart of the project lies the construction of a central bus terminus for larger commuter buses, strategically positioned within each city. Complementing these terminals are the establishment of bus shelters and lay-bys along key intracity routes, as well as junction improvement works to facilitate smoother traffic flow at major intersections.
“Our vision is to foster a transformative impact on the inter and intra-city transport landscape, alleviating congestion and enhancing the urban aesthetic. The project’s design reflects a global standard, offering an integrated transport system that ensures safety, comfort, and efficiency for all city dwellers.”
