Newsom expressed gratitude to President Biden for his “quick work” in helping to secure the additional funding which will be used to “repair infrastructure like roads & bridges, public facilities & parks”.
This is coming following the devastation in Los Angeles County caused by wildfires which started last Tuesday.
The wildfires in Los Angeles have destroyed more than 12,000 structures; killed at least 24 people.
Over 100,000 people are under evacuation orders, thousands have been rendered homeless.
Officials have however warned, the figures are not exact as it could take weeks to ascertain the numbers.
According to Governor Newsom: “Thanks to the quick work of @POTUS, California has secured additional funding to help LA communities rebuild faster & stronger.
This new funding will help us repair infrastructure like roads & bridges, public facilities & parks — the places that bring our communities together.”
