The former Governor of Anambra State made the statement following “a disturbing incident yesterday, involving some Nigerian teenage girls who were trafficked to Ghana”.
Obi said: “I was made aware of a disturbing incident yesterday, involving some Nigerian teenage girls who were trafficked to Ghana, as seen in a viral video. I am deeply concerned and saddened by this ugly situation,
“and I am urgently appealing to the relevant government authorities to take immediate action to rescue and protect these vulnerable girls. Furthermore, I am willing to collaborate with any individual or organization involved in the efforts to combat human trafficking and
“support the victims. It is our collective responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of these young girls and to prevent such horrific incidents from happening in the future.
“I urge the government to take swift and decisive action to investigate this incident, bring the perpetrators to justice, and provide support and rehabilitation to the victims. I also call on non-governmental organizations, civil society,
“and individuals to join forces in this fight against human trafficking and exploitation. Together, we can make a difference and create a safer and more just society for all.”
