At least nine people sustained various degree of injury after an escalator fire broke out at John F. Kennedy International Airport Wednesday, officials disclosed.

Fire Department New York (FDNY) received a report of smoke and evacuated Terminal 8 due to the smoke condition, the New York City Fire Department said.
Out of the nine injured, four were rushed to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Port Authority of NY and NJ.
Officials said, all injuries were minor.
The John F. Kennedy Airport announced: “Flight operations at Terminal 8 have been impacted. Please check with your airline to determine the status of your flight.”
