Manchester City kicked off their title defence with a comfortable 2-0 win over Chelsea in their opener of the Premier League 2024/25 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 18 August, 2024.

A first half goal in the 18th minute from Norwegian sharpshooter, Erling Braut Haaland, and a late strike from Mateo Kovacic, six (6) minutes to full time, inflicted a loss on manager Enzo Maresca’s first in his first match in charge of Chelsea.
The Blues finished 28 points behind reigning Kings, Manchester City, in the 2023/24 season, and failed to qualify for the Uefa Champions League 2024/25.
