Israel V Hezbollah: ‘Israeli strikes in Lebanon k*lled two UNHCR colleagues’ – Grandi

High Commissioner for United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), Filippo Grandi, has confirmed with sadness that, Israeli attacks in Lebanon on Monday 23 September, 2024 has “killed two UNHCR colleagues”.

Grandi said, “Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon are now relentlessly claiming hundreds of civilian lives.”

More than 550 people were killed following Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon on Monday.

Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, via a video has pleaded with the citizens of Lebanon to “get out of harm’s way”, and that, they can return safely to their homes after completion of their operations against Hezbollah.

According to Grandi: “Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon are now relentlessly claiming hundreds of civilian lives.


And I am very saddened to confirm that two UNHCR colleagues were also killed yesterday.


On behalf of all us at UNHCR, heartfelt condolences to their families, friends and colleagues.”
