The US President added, nobody will “rest until everybody is accounted for.”
Hurricane Helene which ravaged some states including, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee among others, claimed more than 100 lives with properties destroyed.
In his remarks on his Administration’s continued response efforts to Hurricane Helene, President Biden said: “As president, I’ve heard dozens of stories from survivors about how it feels to be left with nothing, and to not even know where to begin to get back on track.
I am here to tell every single survivor in these impacted areas that we are here for you for as long as it takes.
“To families in the southeast and Appalachia left reeling in Helene’s wake, our nation has your back, and the Biden-Harris Administration will be with you until the job is done.
“I have directed my team to provide every available federal resource as fast as possible to communities hit by Hurricane Helene.
I quickly approved every Emergency Declaration request I received. FEMA and the Small Business Administration are here to help residents whose homes or businesses were destroyed or damaged. And our federal search and rescue teams have been working side-by-side with state and local partners in treacherous conditions to find those who are missing.
They will not rest until everybody is accounted for.
“I’m committed to traveling to the communities impacted by Hurricane Helene as soon as it doesn’t risk diverting or delaying response assets.
Your safety – and the unimpeded flow of personnel and resources – is what’s most important right now.”
