Wildfires: Trump holds Canada responsible for invading the US with ‘polluted and unhealthy air’

Donald Trump, President of the United States (US), has announced, his government is holding Canada responsible for “not properly maintaining” their forest, and it is leading to the US being “unnecessarily invaded” by “polluted and unhealthy air”.

The US President said, he will have a conversation with Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, to ascertain what “they are going to do about it”.

Also, Trump threatened to impose new tariffs on its neighbours for the “dangerous air” that has engulfed parts of America.

The threat by the American Leader is coming following hundreds of wildfires from Canada which has left a large part of the Northern region of America covered by thick smoke.

The threat follows complaints by American lawmakers over the wildfires, as well as, Premier of Ontario Province, Doug Ford, requesting the US to send support to fight the fires, rather than complain.

Via Truth Social, President Trump posted: “We are holding Canada responsible for the fact that they are not properly maintaining their Forests, and Brush therein, and the United States is being unnecessarily invaded by filthy, polluted, and unhealthy air, the quality of which is dangerous, and totally unacceptable!”

There were over 800 fires actively blazing in Canada as of Friday, as made known by the Canadian Wildland Fires Information System. A majority of the fires are burning uncontrollably.

Trump lamented, the cost is “incalculable” for America as the country spends “billions of dollars” to tackle the pollution, saying, Canada has “refused” to engage in basic Foreign Management, describing the refusal as “willful negligence”.

More than 100 of the fires are burning in Premier Ford’s Ontario, and some uncontrollably.

Trump posted: “I will call the Prime Minister during the day to find out what they are going to do about it. The cost is incalculable! Canada has refused to engage in basic Forest Management and Debris Removal, knowing that such refusal will lead to exactly this result.

“This is Willful Negligence, and becoming a yearly occurrence, costing the United States Billions of Dollars”.

Trump made known, the cost of the pollution on the US will be “added” to the tariffs Canada is remitting to America.

Earlier, PM Carney stated, it was the responsibility of America and Canada to tackle climate change.

President Trump further posted: “which cost of this pollution must of necessity be added to the TARIFFS Canada is currently paying.”

The Canadian PM said on X, people in “thousands” have been forced to evacuate their communities due to the wildfires, which is more intense in Northwestern Ontario.

PM Carney posted: “The wildfire situation has escalated significantly over the last three weeks across the country, and particularly in Northwestern Ontario.

“Thousands of people have been forced to evacuate their communities, not knowing if their homes will survive.”
