Turkish Süper Lig outfit, Fenerbahçe SK, has sent its congratulatory message to Hull City after the Championship club gained promotion to the English top tier football, Premier League.
Hull City, owned by Acun Ilıcalı, a Turkish Entrepreneur, gained the Premier League promotion after a 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough in the Play-off at Wembley Stadium.
Acun Ilıcalı served as Vice President at Fenerbahçe.
The final list of Championship teams that gained promotion to the Premier League have been finalized. Frank Lampard’s Coventry City, who emerged Championship 2025/26 Winners, and, Ipswich Town, already clinched their tickets to the EPL. Hull City emerged the third club to make it to the English top flight following their victory over The Boro.
Hull City and Southampton were set to slug it out for the final promotion spot remaining before sanctions were slammed on the Saints, and were removed from the Play-off as part of the club’s punishment for spying on opposing teams’ practices this postseason.
Middlesbrough replaced Southampton, but, suffered a lone goal defeat at the England National Stadium in London.

Oli McBurnie netted Hull City’s goal in the 4th minute of additional time against Middlesbrough in the Play-off on Saturday 23 May, 2026.
