German center-back, Jonathan Tah, has said, Bayern Munich “don’t just want to perform” against PSV Eindhoven, but, really “want to perform”.
Tah, who won the German Bundesliga 2023/24 title with Bayer Leverkusen under former manager, Xabi Alonso, confessed his current boss, Vincent Kompany, has a “special bond” with the defenders at Bayern Munich.
After featuring sixteen (16) times for the Bavarians since moving to Allianz Arena in 2025, Tah has gone ahead to win the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup 2025 with the German reigning Champions, and is hoping to win his first Bundesliga title with the Club this season as Bayern Munich sit comfortably at the top of the table.
He said, Bayern are a club that “rotate a lot”, as well as, “train a lot”.
Bayern Munich will face PSV Eindhoven in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 last League Phase clash on Wednesday 28 January, 2026 at 21:00 (WAT) in the Netherlands.
According to Bayern Munich on X, at his pre-match press conference, Jonathan Tah said:
Changes to defence:
“Every player is always ready to do what’s required in their position. Because we rotate a lot and train a lot, it’s not that unusual. Everyone knows how to play with everyone else.”
On his leadership qualities:
“That’s for others to judge. But of course I try to take responsibility, communicate a lot, help everyone to become even better – on and off the pitch. But whether I do that well is for others to judge.”
On the game against PSV:
“We don’t just have to perform, we want to perform – that’s an intrinsic motivation. We learn from every game. From the Augsburg game in particular, we learnt that we want to keep the energy levels up in the second half.”
On head coach Vincent Kompany:
“I can certainly say that he has a special bond with us defenders because he can put himself in our shoes best. But ultimately he gives everyone something. I’ve already learnt a lot from him.”
Tah has recorded several successes in his career, making it to the Uefa Europa League Team Of The Season (2019/20, 2022/23, 2023/24); Bundesliga Team Of The Season (2023/24, 2024/25).
He also won the DFB Pokal 2023/24 and DFL SuperCup 2024 with Bayer Leverkusen.
