Injury returnee, Cole Palmer, made his return to action for Chelsea as he helped the Blues to a fine 2-0 triumph over Everton in the Premier League 2025/26 match on Saturday 13 December, 2025 at Stamford Bridge.
Due to groin injury, Palmer, England international, was missing on the field of play when Chelsea lost 1-2 to Atalanta in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 League Phase clash in Italy.
However, the attacking midfielder was fit enough to face David Moyes’ in-form Everton and made his positive impact for Chelsea early in the game on his first home start in almost four (4) months.
Malo Gusto provided for Cole Palmer, who converted for the home side in the 21st minute; he beautifully fired home past goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford to hand Enzo Maresca’s side the lead.
Everton had their chances with James Tarkowski heading wide and Jack Grealish’s effort from a tight angle saved by goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez.
In the 45th minute, Gusto converted Pedro Neto’s assist to make it two for Chelsea as they head into the break.
The Blues were still dominating after the break, however, Maresca was not willing to risk Palmer’s fitness and pulled him out of action in the 58th minute.
A free-kick effort by defender, Reece James, was saved by Pickford.
