NPFL 2024/25: Enyimba 2-1 Ikorodu City – ‘People’s Elephant charged for publishing disparaging comments against match officials’

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) announced, “Enyimba have been charged for breaching the NPFL Framework & Rules in the course of their Matchday 9 fixture vs Ikorodu City at the Enyimba Stadium on Sunday.”

In the top flight encounter at the Aba Stadium, Enyimba discomfited Ikorodu City by two (2) goals to one (1).

NPFL said, “the Aba club have been charged for publishing disparaging comments against match officials on their social media handle (X, formerly known as Twitter)”, adding, the Aba-based club “have been fined N1 million for misconduct”.

It warned the People’s Elephant to “desist from similar acts” or face “stiffer sanctions”.

According to NPFL: “Enyimba have been charged for breaching the NPFL Framework & Rules in the course of their Matchday 9 fixture vs Ikorodu City at the Enyimba Stadium on Sunday.


“The Aba club have been charged for publishing disparaging comments against match officials on their social media handle (X, formerly known as Twitter). The published comments by the People’s Elephant are capable of bringing the game to disrepute.


“Enyimba have been fined N1 million for misconduct capable of bringing the game to disrepute. The club have also been warned to desist from similar act in future & advised to use appropriate channels to make their complaints as a recurrence will lead to stiffer sanctions.


“Enyimba have the rights to appeal to the sanctions within 48 hours of the date of notice.”
