China has congratulated Madam Sushila Karki after becoming Nepal’s interim government Prime Minister.
Spox of the Chinese Miniatry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Lin Jian, said, China and Nepal “share a time-honored friendship”.
Madam Karki’s emergence is coming following the protests in Nepal which has led to the death of more than fifty (50) people.
According to the Asian country’s Health Ministry on Sunday, government offices, houses, and other buildings have been set ablaze during the anti-corruption protests.
Lin Jian posted on X: “China congratulates Madam Sushila Karki on becoming Prime Minister of Nepal’s interim government.
“China and #Nepal share a time-honored friendship. China, as always, respects the development path chosen independently by the people of Nepal. We stand ready to work with Nepal to promote the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, enhance exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and further advance bilateral relations.”
The unrest in Nepal, described as the deadliest in the country, ignited when majorly juvenile Nepalis flooded the streets of Kathmandu and other cities early last week.
73-year old Madam Sushla Karki has now become the first woman to lead Nepal as Prime Minister. She assumes the Office after a deal was reached with protest leaders.
