Rudiger thank fans for ‘get well soon messages’ after picking up serious injury

Real Madrid German defender, Antonio Rudiger, has expressed thanks for all the “get well soon messages” sent to him after suffering serious rectus femoris muscle injury in his left leg while in action during training.

The injury is expected to keep the defender away for months.

The Germany international said, “I hate not being able to be out there with my teammates.”

Rudiger’s injury was confirmed by Real Madrid on Friday; the Club made known, the defender’s injury was diagnosed by the Real Madrid Medical Services.

Rudiger has been struck by a series of fitness problems in what has been a difficult past year for the centre-back.

In his gratitude on X, Rudiger wrote: “I really appreciate every single one. As you all know there’s nothing I hate more than not being able to be out there with my teammates, fighting for the club. But one thing’s for sure: I’ll give everything to be back at 100% as soon as possible. I’ve been through setbacks before and I’ll rise again. Always.”

In its medical report on Rudiger on its official website, Real Madrid disclosed: “Following tests conducted on Toni Rüdiger by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his left leg. Awaiting further development.”
