‘Era of energy insecurity over’ – Governor Eno says after signing MoU with REA

Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, said, “electricity is the single most important driver” of his administration’s ARISE Agenda.

Eno made the statement in Abuja on Wednesday after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rural Electrification Agency to bolster collaboration.

The Governor said, the “era of energy insecurity” in the South-South State is “almost over”; he added, in Akwa Ibom, electricity will power “schools, hospitals, farms” and more for Akwa Ibomites.

Governor Eno posted on X: “In Abuja, I made it clear that electricity is the single most important driver of our ARISE Agenda. With our Electricity Policy, new laws, and regulatory framework now in place, we are moving from plans to real action to deliver reliable power to every Akwa Ibom community.

“Electricity will power our schools, hospitals, industries, farms, and digital hubs while creating jobs and opportunities for our people. Through a mix of natural gas, small hydro, and renewable energy, we will ensure a sustainable energy future for our State.

“We also signed an MoU with the Rural Electrification Agency to strengthen collaboration. The era of energy insecurity in Akwa Ibom is almost over; we are ready to power growth and prosperity.”
