The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will commission the Lagos State Industrial Leather Hub on Saturday 23 August, 2025.
She was welcomed in Lagos by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos on Friday.
The Governor said, the project was conceived first in 2020 and ita construction started in 2021 at the Matori Industrial Estate in the Mushin District of Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu made known via X: “Later today, the First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, will formally inaugurate the Lagos State Industrial Leather Hub.
“This project was first conceived in 2020, and construction commenced the following year at the Matori Industrial Estate in Mushin. Today, we are proud to witness its fruition.”
According to the Governor, the Hub features two (2) principal sections, which are; the “production area, and commercial and business development area”.
The production area features “ultra modern industrial leatherwork machinery” which can produce in large quantity shoes, bags and other products, while, the commercial and business development area features “houses shops, showrooms, offices” and more, built to “support the growth of our artisans and entrepreneurs”.
Governor Sanwo-Olu further made known: “The hub comprises two principal sections. The first is the production area, equipped with ultra modern industrial leatherwork machinery capable of mass-producing shoes, bags, belts, and other high quality leather products.
“The second is a commercial and business development area. This section houses shops, showrooms, training rooms, workstations, and offices thoughtfully designed to inspire creativity, foster enterprise, and support the growth of our artisans and entrepreneurs.
“The Lagos State Industrial Leather Hub is a testament to our shared belief in the potential of Lagosians and our commitment to building industries that generate employment, stimulate innovation, and strengthen the economy of our state.”
