Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has commissioned the fully rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant in Bwari Area Council, FCT on Tuesday.
Initially awarded in 2022 at a cost of “₦50 billion”, the project was completed by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The former Governor of Rivers State said, the Plant will “improve the supply of clean and potable water to the residents of the FCT.”
Wike also announced the flag-off of the construction and expansion of water supply to satellite town in the FCT.
Taking to X, Wike mad known: “Yesterday, I commissioned the completely rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant at Lower Usuma Dam, in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council.
“The project, originally awarded in 2022 at a cost of N50 billion, was completed under the administration of President Bola Tinubu. This further demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing critical infrastructure and essential services in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“This project is crucial because it increases the carrying capacity of the plant and will improve the supply of clean and potable water to our people.
“The rehabilitation of Phase II of the Lower Usuma Dam water treatment plant will increase the plant’s carrying capacity and improve the supply of clean and potable water to the residents of the FCT.
“Today, we will flag-off the construction and expansion of water supply to FCT Satellite towns, with Lot 1; Bwari Township in Bwari Area Council.
“On Thursday, Lot 2; Karu town and environs in Abuja Municipal Area Council will be flagged-off.”
