On Saturday morning, after a vehicle drove into a crowd on Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood, Los Angeles, three people have been left in critical condition.
Central Traffic Division Watch Commander, at the Los Angeles Police Department (LADP), Sgt. Travis Ward, said the driver was shot after the collision, and had been taken to hospital and moved into surgery.
Due to this reason, he said, LAPD was not able to find out if the driver was intoxicated.
Photos from the scene revealed a bashed up grey vehicle straddling the sidewalk with debris strewn across the floor. At least a dozen firefighters can be seen alongside a number of people sitting on the floor on blankets.
A man who was inside a nightclub told NBC News, he heard a “loud bang,” adding, a crowd of people ducked believing they’d heard gunshots.
Sgt. Ward added it was still early to say if the incident was on purpose or if the driver ran off the road, adding an investigation has commenced.
