Update on Moses Caicedo and Joao Pedro as Chelsea gears up for FIFA Club World Cup final against PSG

Chelsea Italian head coach, Enzo Maresca, has released an update on Ecuadorian midfielder, Moses Caicedo, and Brazilian forward, Joao Pedro, featuring for the Blues in the FIFA Club World and 2025 final against Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG).

The Premier League club, who are one game away from the trophy in the United States of America (USA), having made it all the way to the Club World Cup final, where either the Blues or Paris Saint-Germain will be crowned Winners.

Chelsea and PSG will slug it out in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on Sunday 13 July, 2025 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey at 20:00 (WAT).

The Blues’ hopes of emerging victorious in that showdown were handed a boost on Friday when Maresca confirmed that Caicedo came back to training for that day’s session, leaving him cheerful of fielding the midfielder available to face Luis Enrique’s Les Parisiens.

According to the Blues’ official website, Maresca said: “Moises is an important player for us. He participated in the session this morning and I hope we can have him on Sunday.”

Maresca also talked about the prowess of forward Joao Pedro, who scored twice in Chelsea’s 2-0 semi-final triumph over Brazilian side, Fluminense, and is one of several promising attacking options available to Maresca for the Blues’ next clash.

PSG took their time to humiliate Spanish La Liga giants, Real Madrid, in the semi final by a huge 4-0, to reach the final.

In his pre-PSG press conference, on Joao Pedro, Maresca said: “Joao is a very good player, the reason why we bought him is we think he’s going to help us against teams that defend deep, low blocks.

“He is very good in small spaces, has great quality. We have 48 hours before the final and we are lucky to be able to pick from different options. We will see who is going to play.”

The Blues manager said, the morale at the team is really high as they hope to end the tournament as Champions.

Maresca said: “In this moment, the mood inside the changing room is fantastic, top. The reason why is because they value what they have done during this competition and during the season, especially now in where we are here in this competition.

“When you start with 32 teams, and you are lucky to be here at the end with just two teams, they are proud and happy. I have the feeling we are ready to play this final on Sunday.”

HC: This trophy should go to Chelsea. Nobody is giving update on Nicolas Jackson?!
