Bill Clinton in ‘pain’ over children lost in Texas Flooding

Former President of the United States (US), Bill Clinton, has expressed “pain” over the number of children lost in the “tragedy” in the State of Texas.

More than 100 have been confirmed dead in the Texas flooding as search and rescue works continue.

Clinton said: “The tragedy in Texas is heartrending, made even more painful by the number of children lost. Hillary and I are keeping the communities devastated by the flooding in our thoughts, those who lost loved ones in our hearts, and all who are still in danger in our prayers.”

Many of the over 100 people confirmed dead are children attending a Christian summer camp on the banks of the Guadalupe River.

The Texas flooding will be recorded as one of the state’s worst ever natural disasters; the “tragedy” was felt most in Kerr County where at least 27 children and counsellors were killed after a deluge of water described by one witness as a “a pitch-black wall of death” ravaged through the all-girl Camp Mystic on the river’s south fork

Dalton Rice, City manager of Kerrville, the county seat, at a press conference on Sunday, said: “Everyone in the community is hurting. We are seeing bodies recovered all over, up and down.”
