Liverpool Portuguese forward, Diogo Jota, has died in a car crash in Spain.
According to local police, the car left the road due to a tyre burst while overtaking another car.
Andre Silva, Jota’s brother, also died in the crash.
28-year old Diogo Jota got married to his partner last month – the couple had three children together.
The Portugal international was a very important member of the Liverpool team that lifted the Premier League 2024/25; he earlier fielded for Wolves and Porto.
Jota also fielded for Spanish La Liga club, Atletico Madrid, before making his move to Liverpool in 2020.
On the international level, Jota featured for Portugal’s under 19, under 21 and under 23 before being integrated into the country’s senior football team.
Spain’s Guardia Civil revealed, the car, a Lamborghini, left the road due to a tyre burst while overtaking another car. They further revealed, It then set on fire.
The unfortunate incident happened just two weeks after Diogo Jota’s wedding day to long-term partner Rute Cardoso, which took place on 22 June.
