Official: Pogba returns to football, joins AS Monaco as free agent

French midfielder, Paul Pogba, has returned to football officially by signing as a free agent with AS Monaco after his doping ban.

The former Manchester United and Juventus player, had terminated his contract with Juventus by mutual consent in November 2024.

The 32-year old underwent his medical tests over the last 24 hours and signed a two-year contract, worth a reported €2m per season, and will wear the Number 8 jersey.

The Frenchman had made his comeback to Juve in the summer of 2022 as a free agent from Manchester United, six (6) years after sealing a then world record breaking transfer worth €105m from Turin to Old Trafford.

It was the second time that the defensive midfielder had joined the Bianconeri for free from Manchester United, having done the same as a teenager in 2012.

His second Juventus period was adversely affected by a series of injuries, then failing a standard drug test in August 2023.

Initially, Pogba was handed a four-year ban for doping in February 2024, which was reduced after appeal to 18 months in October 2024.

Pogba recorded 190 competitive appearances for Italian Serie A club, Juventus, and 233 for English Premier League club, Manchester United.
