‘Inhumane imprisonment’ – Macron orders Iran to release two French citizens held ‘unjustifiably’

President of France, Emmanuel Macron, made known, he got a call from the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, and did not hesitate to make his demand clear.

The French President said, he started by demanding the release of two French citizens, Cecile Collet and Jacques Perry, whose “inhumane imprisonment” cannot be “justified”.

Macron said, he expressed his “deep concern” as regards Iran’s nuclear program, affirming his position that, “Iran will never be able to possess nuclear weapons”.

He also made it clear to Pezeshkian that, Iran must “provide full guarantees that its intentions are solely peaceful.”

Macron used the opportunity to call for calm in the fighting between Iran and Israel to “prevent even more serious dangers.”.

Taking to his official X account, President Macron revealed: “Iranian President @drpezeshkian called me.

“First and foremost, I reiterated my clear demand: Cecile Collet and Jacques Perry must be released. Their inhumane imprisonment is unjustified. I look forward to their return to France.

“I also expressed my deep concern about the Iranian nuclear program. Here too, I took a firm position: Iran will never be able to possess nuclear weapons, and it must provide full guarantees that its intentions are solely peaceful.

“I am convinced that a way can be found to break out of the cycle of war and prevent even more serious dangers.

“To this end, we intend to accelerate the talks with Iran, which are being led by France together with its European partners.”
