FC Barcelona, Spanish La Liga Kings, have activated the release clause of goalkeeper, Joan Garcia, the cost of the clause was 25 million euros plus Comparative Performance Index (CPI).
On Friday, the player will put pen to paper for a contract with the club for the next six (6) seasons, until June 30, 2031, in a private ceremony at FC Barcelona’s offices.
Joan Garcia was born in Sallent de Llobregat, in the Bages region of Catalonia. After departing Sallent, he moved to Manresa and then to Damm, until Espanyol signed him at the young age of 15.
At Espanyol, he emerged a regular in the youth national teams of Spain from the U17 to the U21 level, and he has an Olympic gold medal from the 2024 Games in Paris, France.
Garcia is yet to receive a call-up to the Spain Senior National Team, however, there is a possibility of that happening now that he is a Barcelona player.
His beautiful performances, together with his stunning potential at just twenty-four (24) years old, has made him a target for many big clubs around the world, including Barcelona.
Barcelona are the current Kings of Spain after winning the La Liga 2024/25, amassing eighty-eight (88) points, four (4) points ahead of second-placed, Real Madrid.
Hansi Flick’s Catalans, out of thirty-eight (38) top flight matches recorded 28 wins, 4 draws and losses, while Real Madrid recorded 26 wins, 6 draws and 6 losses.
