The Presidency through Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communication, said, “You started the noise about coalition, yet people leave your camps to join us.”
This is coming after the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) tagged, former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi; 2023 Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; and former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, “a trio united in desperation for self-serving power”.
The ‘Broom’ Party made the statement after the “trio” said via a statement that, “the APC government of President Bola Tinubu was “weaponizing” poverty by not eradicating the scourge in two years.”
Bwala said, the Tinubu government is focused on delivering good governance to the people of Nigeria, and not the 2027 Presidential Election which he said is “too far to be taking about”.
He questioned, since everyone is decmaping to join the APC fold, “who is actually in a coalition?”
Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori; and Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, both formerly under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), have defected to the APC.
Oborevwori dumped the PDP and joined the APC alongside his Deputy; former Governor of Delta State and Atiku’s running mate in the 2023 Presidential Election, Ifeanyi Okowa; and all PDP members of the South-South State.
Eno also pulled out members of the PDP with him to the APC.
In their responses to their decisions to decamp to the APC, both Governors said, it’s in the best interest of the people of their respective States.
Bwala wrote: “We maintain our focus on governance, (knowing 2027 is too far to be talking about politics); You started the noise about coalition, yet the more you talk about it the more people leave your camps to join us; so who is actually in a coalition?”
