Joe Biden diagnosed with ‘aggresive’ prostate cancer

82-year old Joe Biden, former President of the United States (US), has been diagnosed with prostate cancer that has spread to his bones, a statement from his office disclosed on Sunday.

On Friday, the discovery was made after he reported urinary symptoms which led doctors to find a small nodule on his prostate.

The statement said, the cancer is a more aggressive form of the disease and Biden and his family are reviewing treatment options.

The 46th President of the US left the White House as the oldest serving US president in history and questions about his health flooded his first term, this led him to announce his exit from his second term race late in his campaign.

Initially, Biden was the Presidential candidate of the Democratic Party to face Donald Trump of the Republican Party, however, calls from within the Party for him to drop out due to his health forced Biden to exit his race to return to the White House, and his Vice, Kamala Harris, was chosen to replace him.

Biden’s Office said on Sunday: “Last week, President Joe Biden was seen for a new finding of a prostate nodule after experiencing increasing urinary symptoms.

“On Friday, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, characterised by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management.”
