Bayern Munich 3-3 Heidenheim: Olise’s stoppage time leveller deny visitors crucial win

Michael Olise netted an additional time leveller for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga match against FC Heidenheim to deny the visitors maximum points as both sides finished 3-3 on Saturday 2 May, 2026 at Allianz Arena in Munich.

The outcome is a blow to Heidenheim’s hopes of Bundesliga survival.

Manager Vincent Kompany made seven changes to the starting lineup that fell by 5-4 to French side, Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG), in the Uefa Champions League semi final first leg in Paris on Tuesday.

Harry Kane, Luis Diaz and Michael Olise were all named as substitutes, and, German defender, Jonathan Tah, wore the Captain armband for the first time.

On the side of FC Heidenheim, Manager Frank Schmidt made just one change for his side with Arijon Ibrahimović, loanee from Bayern Munich, coming in for Adrian Beck.

The match was Heidenheim’s 100th in the Bundesliga and the visitors needed all three (3) points to keep their relegation survival hopes alive.

In the early stages of the encounter, Bayern Munich mounted pressure, but, it was Heidenheim that went in front first when Budu Zivzivadze converted Marnon Busch’s assist in the 22nd minute; Zivzivadze flicked the ball past goalkeeper, Jonas Urbig.

And, in the 31st minute, Heidenheim added the second through Eren Dinkçi after Busch had provided. Dinkçi rounded Urbig and tapped the ball over the line to double the away side’s advantage.

The Bavarians struggled against Heidenheim’s organised defence and found their breakthrough in the 44th minute through Leon Goretzka.

Jamal Musiala was fouled on by Niklas Dorsch in the 43rd minute in a dangerous spot, and Goretzka stepped up to curl the free-kick to open the scoring for the home side.

Kompany reacted to the half time deficit by making four susbtitutions, bringing on Kane, Olise, Díaz and Joshua Kimmich.

Following Kompany’s move to address the deficit, the hosts mounted a very intense pressure on their visitors and Ramaj was forced to deny an effort from Senegalese striker, Nicolas Jackson, in the 55th minute.

In the 57th minute, Olise assisted Goretzka, who converted to level for Bayern after Musiala’s effort to level went just wide.

But, Heidenheim went ahead again through Zivzivadze in the 76th minute through Ibrahimovic’s assist. Zivzivadze pushed forward on the left wing, manoeuvred through Olise, and finished with a beautiful curl into the top corner to make it 2-3.

Olise hit the crossbar in the 83rd minute from a corner as Bayern Munich fought hard to level on home turf, but, it was the Frenchman who eventually levelled for the hosts in the 10th minute of additional time after his shot hit the post, bounced back off the back of goalkeeper Ramaj and over the line to earn Bayern a point.

Bayern Munich will now be looking to overturn a 5-4 loss they suffered in the hands of Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG) in Paris in the Uefa Champions League semi final first leg on Tuesday when they host the French Ligue 1 side in Munich, Germany for the second leg on Wednesday 6 May, 2026 at 20:00 (WAT).
