After more than two and half years together, Bayer Leverkusen and Spanish manager, Xabi Alonso, will part ways at the end of the season.
Leverkusen, Kings of Germany, DFB Pokal and Supercup winners of 2024 have granted the wish of the Spaniard to terminate his contract originally due to run to the summer of 2026 after the end of this season.
When the time is right, Bayer Leverkusen will announce who takes over from the Spaniard.
According to bayer04.de, Chair of the shareholders committee at Bayer 04, Werner Wenning, said: “Together with Xabi Alonso we have written a success story just through winning the league title without defeat in a way not seen in German football.
“He was an outstanding ambassador at all times as coach both for our club as well as for the whole Bundesliga. Therefore, we are very grateful to Xabi Alonso.”
