Stampede At School In Oyo: ‘Casualty figures yet to be confirmed’ – NEMA

“Casualty figures from the stampede are yet to be confirmed”, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said.

The stampede at the Islamic High School, Basorun in Oyo State also caused injuries to many.

According to NEMA: “The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) South West Zonal Office, in collaboration with other stakeholders, has assessed the situation at Bashorun Islamic High School, Ibadan, where a stampede occurred


The assessment team, led by Assistant Zonal Coordinator Mr. Olanrewaju Kazeem, expressed sympathy on behalf of the Zonal Coordinator to the Oyo State Government and those affected by the incident.


Casualty figures from the stampede are yet to be confirmed. Injured individuals were taken to several hospitals, including the University College Hospital (UCH), Adeoyo Hospital, Molly Specialist, Western Hospital, and Patnas Hospital.


The area is now calm, with security agencies present to maintain order. Normalcy has returned to the vicinity.”
