Dapo Abiodun, Executive Governor of Ogun State, has called on the people of Osun State to “come out and exercise their civic responsibility” as the Osun State Governorship Election holds today, Saturday 15 August, 2026.
The Governor urged the people of the State to support the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) alongside its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, “overwhelmingly”.
After joining Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, and the 2027 APC Governorship candidate of Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI), in Osun State, Abiodun said, he travelled to the State to show “support and solidarity” to the candidate of the ‘Broom’ Party.
On X, Governor Abiodun announced: “Yesterday, we joined the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma; the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; the @OfficialAPCNg Governorship Candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (YAYI); the Leader of the Senate, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele; Hon. James Faleke; and other leaders of our great party in Osun State”.
He said, he made the trip to “lend our support and solidarity to the APC and its governorship candidate ahead of today’s Osun State Governorship Election.”
Abiodun said, he paid a visit to the APC Situation Room, where preparations for the election were reviewed, and from there to the town of Ile-Ife for what he described as a “strategic” courtesy visit to former National Secretary of the APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore, where “useful engagements” took place.
Governor Abiodun said: “As part of our engagements, we visited the APC Situation Room in Osogbo, where we reviewed preparations ahead of the election.
“We also proceeded to Ile-Ife for a strategic courtesy visit to Senator Iyiola Omisore, former National Secretary of the APC, at his residence, where we held useful engagements in furtherance of our collective efforts towards the success of our party.”
He added: “As the people of Osun State go to the polls today, we urge them to come out peacefully, exercise their civic responsibility and give their overwhelming support to the APC and its candidate.”
