Bayern Munich emerged from two goals down to clinch a 3-2 triumph over Freiburg in the Bundesliga 2025/26 match on Saturday 4 April, 2026 at Europa-Park Stadium.
The visitors clinched the victory in the absence of English forward, Harry Kane, who is out with injury he suffered while representing his country, England.
Lennart Karl netted the winner deep in additional time to hand the Bavarians all three (3) points on the road.
Ruled out after suffering an ankle problem, Kane was missing in action when England, guided by former Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG) manager, Thomas Tuchel, faced Japan in an international friendly on Tuesday.
The Samurai Blue defeated the Three Lions by a lone goal right inside England’s Wembley Stadium.
Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich head coach, has expressed certainty that, his sharpshooter, Kane, will return to action when Bayern fields against Real Madrid in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 quarter final first leg match at Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday 7 April, 2026.
The Bavarians looked like they would return home with their second Bundesliga defeat of the season as they trailed 2-0 in the 81st minute after the home side netted goals from Johan Manzambi and Lucas Holer.
Manzambi opened the scoring for Freiburg in the 46th minute and Holer added the second in the 71st minute.
But, Tom Bischof, netted the first for the visitors with an assist from Karl in the 81st minute, and Michael Olise provided for the 20-year old German midfielder, who added the second to level for Bayern in the 2nd minute of additional time.
And, in the 9th minute of additional time, Bayern Munich netted their third and winner through 18-year old Karl after Canadian defender, Alphonso Davies, had provided.
Earlier in the showdown, Freiburg had forced 40-year Bayern Munich goalkeeper, Manuel Neuer, to make a shocking reflex save, keeping out a diving header from Philipp Lienhart
With this result, Bayern Munich remain comfortably seated on the summit of the Bundesliga table with seventy-three (73) points, while Freiburg are 8th with thirty-seven (37) points.
