Eid Al-Fitr: Be your brother’s keeper – President Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu sends his congratulations to all Muslim brothers and sisters in Nigeria who are celebrating Eid el-Fitr as he expressed gratitude to God for guidance all through the Holy month of Ramadan.

The President said on X, Ramadan alongside Lent has impacted in us “patience and sacrifice”, describing them as “foundation” and “not seasonal virtues” on which Nigeria will continue to thrive.

In his congratulatory message to Nigerians on Eid el-Fitr, President Tinubu wrote: “As Muslims across the world celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, I congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters in Nigeria and give thanks to Almighty God for guiding us through the holy month of Ramadan.

“Ramadan, alongside the season of Lent, has taught us enduring lessons in patience, tolerance, sacrifice, and neighbourliness. These are not seasonal virtues. They are the foundation upon which we must continue to build our nation.”

The President encouraged, now that we have accepted the principles of “giving and kindness”, we must abide by them by “assisting the needy” and being “our brother’s keeper”.

He then prayed for peace all over Nigeria, saying, all hands must be on deck to bring about “peace and stability” in Nigeria.

The President also urged Nigerians to not hesitate to be security cautious by reporting “suspicious movements” in their communities.

President Tinubu further wrote: “We have embraced the principles of giving, peace, love for country, and kindness to one another. Now, we must live them.

“Let us continue to assist the needy, support the vulnerable, and remain our brother’s keeper. Good behaviour, good neighbourliness, and compassion for all must define us beyond this period.

“I pray for peace across our country. Stability, peace, and security are not the responsibility of one man alone. It is a collective duty.

“I urge all Nigerians to remain vigilant and to report suspicious movements within their communities. Our safety depends on our shared commitment.”

The President preached, the “spirit of Ramadan” should be taken forward in “action, words and service”.

President Tinubu continued: “Let us carry forward the spirit of Ramadan in our actions, our words, and our service to one another.”
