England international, Harry Kane, has now reached fifty (50) goals after scoring twice for Bayern Munich in the UCL knockout match against Atalanta on Wednesday in Germany.
Heading into the showdown with a huge 6-1 advantage, Bayern Munich dumped Atalanta out of the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 with an easy 4-1 win in the round of 16 second leg match at Allianz Arena on Wednesday 18 March, 2026.
The win means Bayern Munich have progressed to the quarter finals of the competition with a 10-2 aggregate victory.
Kane started the game on forty-eight (48) goals, but, a goal from the spot in the first half and a second in the other half took his tally to fifty (50) Champions League goals, attaining the feat after sixty-six (66) games.
Manchester City Norway striker, Erling Haaland, holds the record for reaching fifty (50) goals quickest, a feat he achieved in forty-nine (49) games.
It was already evident that Vincent Kompany’s side were through to the last eight of the competition following a stunning 6-1 victory in Italy last Tuesday; the German Bundesliga 2025/26 toppers will now gear up for a showdown with Spanish side, Real Madrid.
Real Madrid, led by Alvaro Arbeloa, kicked out Premier League side, Manchester City, from the Champions League with a 5-1 aggregate win; the Los Blancos won at home 3-0 and headed to England, where they came out with a 2-1 win.
Kane opened the scoring for the visitors in the 25th minute from the penalty spot after the German side were awarded a penalty following a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), after Giorgio Scalvini blocked Kane’s shot with his arm.
The Englishman stepped up and struck home with goalkeeper Marco Sportiello diving the wrong way.
In the 54th minute, Josip Stanisic provided for Kane, who made no mistake to convert and make it two for Bayern.
The Bavarians then netted the third and fourth in the 56th and 70th minutes through teenager Lennart Karl and Luis Diaz respectively, but, the hosts netted a consolation late, in the 85th minute, through Lazar Samardzic’s heading.
Diaz provided for Karl for goal number three (3), and Karl returned the favour for the Colombian left winger, who sealed it up for Bayern.
