Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has officially welcomed Siminalayi Fubara, Executive Governor of Rivers State, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Keyamo, who was in Rivers State, to witness the handing of APC membership card to Fubara, who was recently reinstated as Governor, said, the ‘Broom’ Party actually set a trap to “catch a frog”, but, surprisingly “caught an elephant”.
The Minister said: “We set a trap to catch a frog, but we caught an elephant.”
On Friday 12 December, 2025 in Port Harcourt, Keyamo flagged off the construction of the bypass to Port-Harcourt Airport and commissioned the Ikwere-Igwuruta-Airport Road.
Receiving Fubara to the APC fold, Keyamo said: “We set a trap to catch a frog, but we caught an elephant. Welcome, Sir Sim Fubara, to the All Progressives Congress”
After being reinstated as Governor of Rivers State, Fubara promised his “utmost loyalty” to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who slammed him with a six-month suspension; and expressed his gratitude to Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as both sides reached an agreement to “bury the hatchet and embrace peace” for the sake of the ‘The Treasure Base Of The Nation’.
Keyamo posted on X: “Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, I was a guest of the Governor of the State, His Excellency, Siminalayi Fubara, where I flagged-off of the construction of the bypass to Port-Harcourt Airport and commissioned the Ikwere-Igwuruta-Airport Road that was newly reconstructed by the Rivers State Government.
“I also fortuitously witnessed the occasion whereby the Governor was handed his membership card of the APC, which he recently joined, by the Rivers State Chairman of the APC.”
