Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi; former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; alongside others have sent condolences/sympathies following the “tragic” accident involving Anthony Joshua, British heavyweight boxing champion.
The road mishap occurred along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.

Peter Obi wrote on X: “It is with deep concern that I received the news of the road accident involving former heavyweight boxing champion, Mr. @anthonyjoshua, in Makun, Ogun State.
“It is particularly worrisome that this incident occurred while he was in Nigeria. Many of us are also compelled to reflect on reports that no ambulance was readily available to convey him to the hospital.
“May God Almighty grant him a speedy recovery, and I extend my deepest sympathies to the families of the two lives lost. May God grant them comfort and grant the departed eternal rest.”
Atiku Abubakar wrote on X: “I am deeply saddened to hear of the road accident involving @anthonyjoshua today in Makun, Ogun State. I stand in full solidarity with him during this difficult moment and pray for his swift and complete recovery. Anthony remains a symbol of strength and resilience, and I have no doubt he will come through this with grace.
“My heartfelt condolences go to the families and loved ones of the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in the accident. May their souls rest in peace, and may their families find comfort and strength in this time of sorrow.”
Bashir Ahmad wrote on X: “No one can truly imagine what Anthony Joshua is going through, losing two of your closest friends in a single day, simply as a result of honoring you by accompanying you to your hometown. That is an unimaginable pain. I wish him the strength to bear this profound loss and a speedy recovery.”
